The MGH Story
Many women and young girls living in urban and metropolitan environments lack the full support necessary to live a comfortable and healthy life. This may be due to several reasons, such as, employment issues, lack of family support, low self-esteem, financial struggles or low academic and professional skills. These individuals are especially at-risk for life-altering events like teen pregnancy and homelessness. My Girlfriend’s House was created to combat these issues and provide resources that will guide these young women in the direction of confidence, success, and power.
What started as a social club for professional women in the summer of 2010 quickly grew into a large outreach initiative that focused on female empowerment through community service and volunteerism. Since our beginning, My Girlfriend’s House has served as an invaluable resource to teen girls and women looking to make a positive impact in their lives and in the lives of others.
We’ve held true to the belief that the greatest good you can do is to share your resources with others and empower them to realize their own strengths. To follow through with these beliefs, we’ve volunteered countless hours, supported multiple community initiatives and provided resources to women and young girls in our community.
Recognizing a myriad of social problems affecting teen girls in our community, we launched the Girl Talk Mentoring Program to provide positive guidance, academic support, and a helping hand as girls make the transition into adulthood.
Our goal is to grow our reach and strengthen our impact to continue to empower the future leaders of tomorrow.
