“I am came into contact with My Girlfriend’s House at a very damaging time in my life. My mother just passed away and I didn‘t have anyone I could turn to for guidance. My Girlfriend’s House became that support at a time when I desperately needed it the most.”  

“Before joining the program, I was shy. I struggled with my self-image and no matter what kind of situation I was in, I couldn’t come out of my shell. Being in a crowd and engaging in conversations with strangers terrified me. My Girlfriend’s House helped me find my voice.” 

“I will never forget the Bra Shoppe. I remember when I first heard about it, I got so excited because this would have been my first time buying my own bra. I made an hour long drive to make sure I didn’t miss, what I considered to be, a one in a lifetime experience. I will never forget that day.”

My Girlfriend’s House was different. This program actually has girls who are like minded so I felt like we were all on the same journey together. And our mentors actually listened to us, so I was able to get real advice.  The Clubhouse gave me a place to belong.” 

“I learned how to deal with others and become more accepting. I learned not to judge a book by its cover. There were girls in the program who I became close with and I had no idea they lived in a shelter or the type of issues they were dealing with at home. The Clubhouse became a safe zone. We built a friendship that wasn’t based on popularity or clothes or even social status.“

“I used to be bullied, badly. I kept to myself and had no desire to bond with other girls. When I first joined the program, I was scared I would continue to get bullied. Things were different here. It was a problem free-environment. I felt like I finally found the place where I belonged.”
